VVD present at Lions Club Intermundus [English]

On the 15th of September Monique List was invited by Lions Club Intermundus to discuss with the members the governance and influence of local politics. Once a month members meet at Glaspaviljoen, Strijp-S to discuss actual subjects in an informal setting.

Lions Club
Lions Club Intermundus Eindhoven is an international serviceclub with young professionals of different nationalities and cultures working in Eindhoven and is part of Lions Club International. "We are a volunteer organization whose goal is to make living and working in the Eindhoven region easier and more enjoyable for international young professionals", says Lions Club.

Internationals like to be involved
List gave an oveview of the evening: "It was a very lively evening, with many discussions about subjects as the Dutch democratic system, the influence of inhabitants on local politics, local elections but also the choice between international or local schools for international kids and Dutch or English as the official language in Eindhoven. Many internationals like to be involved in the local way of living, and getting acquainted with local politics can be helpful for them."

Non-Dutch are allowed to vote under conditions
For non-Dutch people it is nice to know that they can vote at local elections if they are living in a Dutch town and are a member of an EU Member State or are legally living in the Netherlands for 5 years.
